Dental veneers
Dental veneers
What are they?
A Veneer is a thin “shell”, usually made out of ceramic, custom modeled to fit the tooth that is going to be restored. The dentist places the veneer in front of the tooth to correct its size, its shade and its contour, improving the appearance of the smile.
Veneers look natural and are perfectly integrated to the teeth. They integrally restore the aesthetic and functional characteristics of the treated teeth.

Recommendation:
- To repair cracked or fractured teeth.
- To correct deep and permanent teeth staining that dental whitening can’t improve.
- To restore worn teeth, except in case of severe worn when it is recommended to use crowns instead of veneers.
- To correct teeth that are not in the right position, when orthodontics is not an option (for minor problems) or refused by the patient.
- To close gaps between teeth (diastema).

Previous dental tests:
Retro-alveolar radiographies, teeth pictures and sometimes moulds that the dentist will take at his/her office…etc.

Steps of the procedure:
First visit to the dentist:

Under local anesthesia, the dentist prepares the tooth that is going to receive the veneer. He/she removes approximately a half millimeter of enamel around the tooth and makes a mould of the tooth that will be used for the elaboration of the permanent veneer. Finally, a temporary veneer is applied in front of your tooth to protect it until the next appointment.

Second visit to the dentist:

The dentist removes the temporary veneer and using dental cement, he/she sticks the permanent veneer custom-made onto your tooth. The result is natural with veneers perfectly adapted within your teeth (shape, color, etc.).

Benefits:
- Dental veneers have the very natural appearance of a tooth and are invisible.
- You can select the color of your veneers to make your teeth look whiter.
- They last from 8 to 12 years.

Points to consider:
- After a complete examination of your medical history file, the dentist takes in consideration the best treatment for your situation and gives you his/her advice in the “diagnosis” section in your “private zone”.
- We request you to enter in your medical history file all the comments that could help the dentist during the examination of your case such as teeth that have suffered strong bruxism (important gnashing of teeth), important periodontal problems and others.
- Veneers made out of porcelain are more aesthetic and are more resistant to alimentary stains than the ones made out of composite.
- Having veneers done is an irreversible treatment.

Care:
Professionals in dental care recommend to brush teeth after each meal and to use dental floss (even in between veneers and crowns) once a day.

In some cases of strong teeth staining, the dentist can advise to reduce the consumption of tobacco, tea, coffee, red wine… etc, that promote teeth staining.

Cost of a veneer:
265 euros
