Neck and Face aesthetic surgery
Forehead lift procedure

What is it?
The forehead lift is designed to smooth the forehead skin. It treats deep horizontal creases across the forehead and the furrows, or often frown lines, between the eyebrows and across the top of the nose. It also sets upright the eyebrows, correcting the sag of the upper eyelids. The face looks naturally relaxed and rejuvenated.

Our plastic surgeon will perform his diagnosis through a first electronic consultation. He will determine the best combination of procedures and the surgical technique to achieve your aesthetic goals. He will also give you a customized advice.

Am I a good candidate for Forehead Lift procedure?
The Forehead lift surgery is suitable for anyone who wants to treat any one or any combination of the following conditions:

  • Sagging or low inherited position of the eyebrows that creates a tired or sad appearance
  • Deep horizontal creases across the forehead
  • Frown lines or furrows between the eyebrows and sometimes across the top of the nose

Younger adults who have a low brow or deep frown lines due to over activity of their forehead muscles are also good candidates for this procedure.

Pre-operative check-up:
The preoperative check-up includes a complete blood test and sometimes a general and cardio-vascular clinical examination. Your surgeon will then be able to appreciate your health in general, as well as your scarring capacity and your body reaction to surgery. The blood test should be included in your electronic consultation form or can be sent  later by mail to your Venus-Esthetique assistant at contact[at]venus-esthetique.com  and before your arrival.

The preoperative check-up can also be done in Tunisia the day of your arrival. Please check its feasibility with your Venus-Esthetique assistant.

During the pre-operative consultation, your anesthetist will select with you the type of anesthesia the most suitable for you (based on your medical and surgical history, its recommendations and your preferences).

Preoperative advice:

  • For the ones who smoke, you will be asked to stop smoking well in advance of the surgery (2-3 weeks) and little weeks after.
  • During the ten days prior to your surgery, some medications that increase the risk of bleeding are prohibited such as aspirin, anticoagulants, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications; and some vitamins/homeopathic regimens should be discontinued prior to surgery.
  • It is recommended to wash your hair the night prior to your surgery.
  • If your hair is short, you may want it to grow out enough to cover your incisions while they heal.
  • Any chemical processing of your hair should be performed prior to surgery or only a month after.
  • Be on an empty stomach from six hour before your surgery: do not eat, do not drink, and do not smoke. In practice, your procedure is planned between 8 and 10 am.
  • Right before your surgery and at the clinic, use a skin cleanser to remove dust and any traces of make-up (for ladies).

Surgery duration :
The average duration is of an hour.

How is a forehead lift surgery performed?
The surgery is performed under general anesthesia, and in some cases under a local anesthesia associated with neuroleptic drugs. During the forehead lift procedure, the plastic surgeon makes a discrete incision in the top of the hair-bearing scalp. It is designed to be inconspicuous when healed. In many instances, the incision begins above the ears and is hidden within the hair. Sometimes, depending on the hair implantation structure, the incision may be placed at the front of the hairline or, in some cases, toward the middle of the scalp. Once the incisions are made, the plastic surgeon performs various degrees of undermining of the skin and lifts the deeper layers of the forehead, he removes excess skin and lifts your eyebrows to a more pleasant level. By the same time, he may modify or disrupt muscles that depress the eyebrows, form frown lines and cause the forehead wrinkles in order to prevent wrinkles forming. At last, the incisions will be covered and masked by hair.

The results are a reversal of the effects of gravity and/or genetics (sagging of the eyebrows) and tightening of the forehead soft tissues to restore a more youthful and natural looking contour to the upper face.

Duration of hospitalization:
Facelifts are relatively important procedures that require paramedical postoperative assistance. You will then stay at your clinic bedroom and have continuous medical and paramedical assistance during the forty eight hours after surgery.

Post-operative monitoring:

  • To reduce the occurrence of swelling and bruising, you will have compressive face dressings during 72 hours after surgery. Bruises will disappear after two weeks. It may take several months for the swelling to fully fade away, and up to 6 months for the incision scars to fully fade.
  • Your surgeon will give you specific instructions that may include caring for the dressings and incisions, and directions for your analgesics and other medications. He will also indicate to you when to follow up in his office so that he will monitor your healing process.
  • To help your face find more quickly its natural appearance, a lymphatic drainage may be performed by a physiotherapist. You can ask for it as a complementary treatment in your electronic quotation form.
  • Concealing make-up is usually permitted after the first week.
  • One month later, you can restart your normal sports activity. Diving only is not allowed before 8 weeks.
  • Your healing process and post-operative results will be evaluated by your surgeon at regular intervals via Jpeg photos that you will post in your private account, via phone calls that we will give you, and email exchanges.

Post-operative results:

  • The first results are visible two weeks after surgery. It is then possible to resume a normal social life.
  • Since the healing process is gradual, you should expect to appreciate the final aspect only after a few months; usually after a-three months period.
  • The results of your forehead lift may be subtle or dramatic, depending on your appearance prior to the surgery as well as the specific goals that you and your plastic surgeon have established.
  • Towards the sixth month, the scars that remained pink will fully fade.
  • It is vital for the sustainability of your facelift results to avoid excessive unprotected sun exposure and cigarette use.

Leave of absence:
It is preferred to stop working during the 10 days following the surgery.

Points to consider :

  • During your electronic consultation and depending on your goals, our plastic surgeon will give you personal advice for free and establish the best procedure and surgical technique to achieve your aesthetic outcome.
  • As a precautionary measure, a mandatory term of fifteen days of reflection is usually necessary.
  • Depending on your lifestyle and your skin type (oily, dry or mixed), the results will last on average 10 years.
  • Moreover, the forehead lift surgery may be supplemented by aesthetic medicine treatments such as laserbrasion, dermabrasion, skin resurfacing (such as a peel, a micro-dermabrasion or an anti-aging laser) to make the skin brighter and smoother. Your surgeon can also recommend you Botox or fillers injections (Hyaluronic acid, Collagen…etc.) to optimize the forehead lift rejuvenating results.
  • The incisions made during the procedure are discrete and carried out in areas not exposed and for the most part hidden by your hair. If your hair is cut fairly short, do not hesitate to take enough time so that they grow before your surgery.
  • A same person can perform 2 to 3 facelifts during her life.

Price of a standard facelift:
The price depends on the procedure plan and the complementary techniques that will be used. Please do not hesitate to ask for a free estimate.

N.B: When you fill in the quotation form, please pay full attention to attach your Jpeg photographs (front, back and profile of the face). You can even send them afterwards by email to your Venus-Esthetique assistant at contact[at]venus-esthetique.com . These photographs are required to process your electronic consultation form and establish the right diagnosis.
