What is it?
The complete facelift is the surgery for face rejuvenation that associates the standard facelift with a forehead lift. It may also combine forehead Botox injections to smooth frown lines and neutralize the muscles responsible of these deep horizontal creases across the forehead.

The skin of the face is long-lastingly smoothened and rejuvenated from the neck up to the forehead; and jowls, double chin and baleen are erased. The eyebrows are set upright, and the sag of the upper eyelids is corrected. The face will look naturally relaxed and rejuvenated for more than a decade.

One of our plastic surgeons will perform his diagnosis through the electronic consultation form you fill in. He will determine the surgical procedure to achieve your outcome and give you a customized advice. He will inform you of the results you can reasonably expect, of the procedure limits as well as its risks.

Am I a good candidate for a complete face Lift surgery?
The complete face Lift procedure is suitable for anyone who wants to rejuvenate his face and neck by a decade, particularly for the persons who present a drooping of the face skin, an irregular distribution of fat in the cheeks (jowls) and/or neck (baleen and double chin), and/or who have deep horizontal creases across the forehead, frown lines between the eyebrows and/or a sagging of the eyebrows.

Pre-operative check-up:
The preoperative check-up includes a complete blood test and sometimes a general and cardio-vascular clinical examination. It will allow your surgeon to evaluate your health, your scarring capacity and your body reaction to surgery. Your blood test results should be included in your electronic consultation form or can be sent later by mail to your Venus-Esthetique assistant at contact[at]venus-esthetique.com and before your arrival.

The preoperative check-up can also be done in Tunisia, the day prior to surgery. Please check its feasibility with your Venus-Esthetique assistant.

During the pre-operative consultation in Tunisia, according to your medical history and to the type of procedure that will be performed, your anesthetist will select the type of anesthesia the most suitable for you.

Preoperative advice:

• Any chemical processing of your hair should be performed prior to surgery or a month after.
• During the week preceding surgery, some medications that raise the risk of bleeding are prohibited such as aspirin, anticoagulants, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications. And some vitamins/homeopathic regimens should be discontinued prior to surgery.
• For smokers, you will be asked to stop smoking 2-3 weeks before the procedure and little weeks after.
• It is recommended to wash your hair the night prior to surgery. 
• From the six hours preceding surgery, you will have to be on an empty stomach: do not eat, do not drink, and do not smoke. In practice, your procedure will be performed between 8 and 10 am.
• Right before your surgery and at the clinic, use a skin cleanser to remove dust and any traces of possible make-up.
• If your hair is short, you may want it to grow out enough to cover your incisions while they heal.

Surgery duration :
The average duration for a complete face lift is of an hour and a half.

How is a complete face-lift surgery performed?
The surgery is performed under general anesthesia, and in some cases under a local anesthesia associated with neuroleptic drugs. During the face-lift surgery, the plastic surgeon makes a discrete incision going from an ear to the other and hidden in the top of the hair-bearing scalp, at about 5 centimeters of the hair implantation line. The incisions are designed to be inconspicuous when healed.

Once the incisions are made, the plastic surgeon performs various degrees of undermining of the skin and lifts the deeper skin layers of the face and neck; he removes excess skin, lifts the contours of the face for a natural result and lifts your eyebrows to a more pleasant level.

By the same time, in order to prevent wrinkles forming he may modify or disrupt the muscles responsible of the eyebrows sagging and the existence of frown lines and forehead and lip contour wrinkles.

The results are a reversal of the effects of gravity and tightening of the face and neck soft tissues to restore a more youthful and natural looking contour to the face.

Duration of hospitalization:
As complete face lifts are relatively important procedures and to ensure your quick recovery, you will remain at the clinic under medical and paramedical control during the forty eight hours after surgery.

Post-operative monitoring:

• Your surgeon will give you specific instructions that may include caring for the dressings and incisions, and directions for your analgesics and other medications. He will also indicate to you when to follow up in his office so that he will monitor your healing process.
• To reduce the occurrence of swelling and bruising, you will have compressive face dressings during 72 hours after surgery.
• Bruises will disappear after two weeks. It may take several months for the swelling to fully fade away, and up to 6 months for the incision scars to fully fade.
• To help your face find more quickly its natural appearance, a lymphatic drainage may be performed by a physiotherapist. You can ask for it as a complementary treatment in your electronic quotation form.
• Concealing make-up is usually permitted after the first week.
• One month later, you can restart your normal sports activity. But diving is not allowed before the 8th week post-surgery.
• Your healing process and post-operative results will be evaluated by your surgeon at regular intervals via Jpeg photos that you will post in your private account, via phone calls that we will give you, and email exchanges.

Post-operative results:

• The first results are visible two weeks after surgery. It is then possible to resume a normal social life. But as the healing process is gradual, you should not expect to appreciate the final aspect before a-three months period.
• Towards the sixth month, the scars will fully fade.
• The results of your complete face lift may be subtle or dramatic, depending on your appearance prior to the surgery and the outcome you have established with your aesthetic surgeon.
• It is vital for the sustainability of your face lift results to avoid excessive unprotected sun exposure and cigarette use.

Leave of absence:
The minimum period required for your follow-up in Tunisia and for your trip is of 10 days.

Points to consider :

• The complete face lift may be supplemented by aesthetic medicine treatments such as dermabrasion, skin resurfacing (such as a peel, a micro-dermabrasion or an anti-aging laser) to make the skin brighter and smoother. Your surgeon can also recommend Botox or fillers injections (Hyaluronic acid, Collagen…etc.) to optimize the forehead lift rejuvenating results.
• The incisions made during the procedure are discrete and carried out in areas not exposed and hidden by your hair. Thus, if your hair is cut fairly short, do not hesitate to take enough time so that it grows before your surgery.
• Depending on your lifestyle and your skin type (oily, dry or mixed), the results will last on average 10 years.
• As a precautionary measure, a mandatory term of fifteen days of reflection is usually necessary.
• A same person can perform 2 to 3 facelifts during her life.
